The Culture Show - BBC / Hyper
For the 2008 relaunch of The Culture Show the BBC wanted to ask one question: what is culture?
It's a question with a thousand different answers... so we took those answers and created a swirling mass of words, pictures and videos that formed a snapshot of public opinion.
It contained three types of content: images and text harvested from blogs and news feeds across the web, anywhere the words 'culture is...' appeared; phrases and images submitted by visitors to the site; and BBC controlled editorial content - photos, quotes and videos from celebrities, taken from the TV broadcast.
In a clever twist, as people blogged about The Culture Show their opinions on what culture is were automatically picked up and fed back into the cultural vortex, becoming part of the site...
